In a significant turn of events in the world of football, former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has parted ways with Turkish club Fenerbahce.
This decision comes on the heels of a disappointing performance in the UEFA Champions League, where the team was unable to secure a coveted place in the 2025/26 tournament.

The final straw for Mourinho and the club appeared to be a crushing defeat against Benfica, a dominant force in Portuguese football.
This loss in the critical second leg of their Champions League qualifier not only ended their ambitions of competing at the highest level in Europe but also handed Fenerbahce a demoralising exit from the prestigious tournament.
In the wake of their unsuccessful campaign, Fenerbahce now finds itself relegated to UEFA’s second-tier competition, the Europa League, a scenario that clearly fell short of the aspirations set for the team and its head coach.
The news of Mourinho’s departure was confirmed by renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who took to the social media platform X to relay the confirmation that the Portuguese coach would no longer lead the Super Lig outfit.
This announcement marks another chapter in Mourinho’s extensive career, noted both for its successes and its unexpected setbacks.
During his tenure at Fenerbahce, which encompassed a total of 62 competitive matches, Mourinho’s record was a mixed bag of progress and disappointment.
His stint resulted in 37 victories, 14 draws, and 11 losses, giving him a commendable win rate of nearly 60 per cent.
Under his guidance, Fenerbahce managed to secure second place in the Turkish Süper Lig, amassing an impressive 99 points. The team showcased a powerful offence, netting 91 goals while conceding just 43.

While Mourinho’s managerial skills brought renewed competitiveness to Fenerbahce, ultimately, he will leave the club without any silverware to show for his efforts.
His tenure, marked by flashes of brilliance, fell short of the high expectations held by fans and club management alike, who were hoping for tangible success to complement his track record as a winning coach.
