Fulham winger Samuel Chukwueze has expressed confidence and focus as the Super Eagles prepare for a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against South Africa in Bloemfontein on Tuesday.
Nigeria, currently third in Group C, are chasing qualification and knows that a victory over Bafana Bafana would significantly boost its chances of reaching the global tournament.
South Africa top the group with 16 points from seven matches, while Nigeria remain close behind with two fixtures left after this clash.

Speaking to NFF TV, the 26-year-old winger acknowledged the strength of the South African side but insisted the Super Eagles have the quality and determination to secure maximum points.
“South Africa is a strong team; they are first in the group. We are Nigerians and we have a good team too, so we can compete with them,” Chukwueze said.
The former Villarreal star stressed the importance of unity, teamwork, and belief within the squad, while calling on Nigerians to give full support to the players.
“By the grace of God, we want good results here. The most important thing for us is to come here and win. We are focused on that. We will be at the World Cup, it’s 100% certain. But we all need Nigerian support. It’s not about one person. We have so many great talents, and we must qualify. That’s the most important thing,” he added.
Chukwueze has been an influential figure for the Super Eagles since making his debut in 2018. With 46 caps and seven goals, he is renowned for his pace, flair, and creativity on the wings.
One of his career highlights came at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, where he became the youngest player to score in the tournament after netting against South Africa in the quarterfinals.
Since then, he has continued to deliver crucial goals in qualifiers and major competitions, proving to be a key attacking option for Nigeria.
