Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has proposed to his long-term partner, Georgina Rodríguez, following nearly ten years together.
Rodríguez, 31, revealed the engagement on Instagram, sharing a photograph of an enormous diamond ring alongside a caption in Spanish that read: “Yes I do. In this and in all my lives.” Ronaldo, the most-followed person on the platform, has yet to make a public statement.
The couple first met in 2016 at a Gucci store in Madrid, where Rodríguez was working at the time, while the Portuguese captian was playing for Real Madrid. Since then, they have built a family together, raising five children: twins Eva Maria and Mateo, daughters Alana and Bella, and Cristiano Jr. In April 2022, they suffered the stillbirth of Bella’s twin brother.
Rodríguez, who stars in the Netflix reality series I Am Georgina, has previously spoken about speculation over their marital status, admitting that friends often teased her about “the ring” but that the decision was “not up to me.”
Congratulations from celebs, fans to Ronaldo
News of the engagement has prompted congratulations from celebrities including Kim Kardashian, Piers Morgan and Lauren Sánchez-Bezos.
Now based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where Ronaldo plays for Al-Nassr, the couple juggle a high-profile lifestyle with private family life. In her Netflix documentary, Ronaldo described Rodríguez as “the woman of my life,” while she reflected: “I dreamed of having a Prince Charming by my side, and now I have him.”
