The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed a widely circulated report claiming that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has validated a list of the party’s state chairmen nationwide.
In a press statement issued on Sunday, the ADC labelled the report as “fake news” and urged the public to disregard it, attributing the misinformation to mischief-makers intent on sowing confusion within the party.

The statement, signed by Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, clarified that INEC has neither officially nor unofficially confirmed any such list.
The ADC emphasised that the process of constituting and ratifying state leadership is an internal matter governed by the party’s constitution.
According to Abdullahi, INEC’s role is limited to recognising lists submitted by the party through proper channels after due process, and no such list has been submitted or validated as of today.
The ADC called on its members, stakeholders, and the general public to remain vigilant and rely solely on official communications from the party’s national leadership.
“The strength of any political movement lies not just in its numbers, but in its discipline, structure, and fidelity to internal democracy,” Abdullahi stated, reaffirming the ADC’s commitment to these principles.
The party’s leadership warned against the spread of misinformation, which it described as a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and destabilise the ADC.
It assured supporters that any authentic updates regarding the party’s structure would be communicated through verified channels.
The party urged its members to remain calm and focused, emphasising that it will not be distracted by efforts to undermine its internal cohesion.
