Lamine Yamal has surpassed Kylian Mbappé’s record after providing a decisive assist against Eintracht Frankfurt at the Spotify Camp Nou.
Before being substituted late on, the Barcelona starlet provided the decisive assist for Jules Kounde’s winner an action that etched his name even deeper into Champions League history.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Yamal’s assist took his total goal contributions in the Champions League to 14 as an 18-year-old or younger, split evenly between seven goals and seven assists. This extraordinary figure makes him the most productive teenager in the competition’s modern-era history (since 1992).
In doing so, he surpasses Kylian Mbappé’s previous record of 13, climbing above a list that includes celebrated names like Raúl (7), Jude Bellingham (6), Rodrygo (6), Theo Walcott (6), Warren Zaïre-Emery (5), Cesc Fàbregas (4), and Wayne Rooney (4).
What sets Yamal apart is not just the numbers but the steadiness of his rise. His contributions stretch across three consecutive Champions League campaigns, rather than one explosive season.
His seven goals include strikes against Monaco, Atalanta, Benfica, and Inter notably featuring the goal voted Best of the 2024/25 Season. This term, he has continued his scoring form with goals against Olympiacos and Club Brugge.
Yamal delivered two assists in 2023/24 (vs Antwerp and PSG), followed by four in 2024/25 (vs Bayern, Borussia Dortmund, and Benfica). This season, he has already added two more against Club Brugge and most recently Frankfurt.
