A new injury update from Real Madrid has indicated that Brazilian attacker Rodrygo Goes will be out for the next few weeks. The club has been dealing with a worrisome injury situation that has seen some of its best players sidelined. This continued during their impressive comeback win against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. Madrid won 5-2 but had to deal with injuries sustained by Rodrygo and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
Rodrygo provided the assist for Madrid’s third goal in their game win over Dortmund before limping off late into the game with a muscle injury. It was reported a day later that the forward will miss this weekend’s El Classico against rivals and league leaders Barcelona.
Further tests have now revealed that the Brazilian is expected to be out for about 20 days with a thigh injury impacting his hamstring. Therefore in addition to Saturday’s face off with Barca, he will miss the encounters with Valencia, AC Milan and Osasuna.
He may also miss the national team duties with Brazil during the international break following the game against Osasuna. He may thus be absent for Brazil’s World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Uruguay on November 14 and 20 respectively.
In addition to Rodrygo, Madrid will miss the presence of Thibaut Courtois for their encounter with Barca, with Brahim Diaz also likely to be out with David Alaba and Dani Carvajal. However, there is a silver lining in that Diaz will soon be available for action after returning to training last week. The Spanish attacking midfielder was crucial for Ancelotti during the winter last season, filling in for the injured Vinicius Jr as the Los Blancos made their way to their eventual league triumph.
