Following an impressive performance at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Super Eagles have moved up 12 places to 26th in the latest FIFA World Rankings released on Monday.
The Super Eagles finished third at the tournament after defeating Egypt in a penalty shootout, a result that contributed significantly to their rise in the global rankings.

With the new standings, Nigeria are now the third-highest ranked team in Africa. Senegal, who are ranked 12th globally, and Morocco, placed eighth in the world, occupy the top two spots on the continent. Algeria and Egypt complete Africa’s top five, sitting in fourth and fifth positions respectively.
On the global stage, Spain lead the rankings, followed by Argentina, France, England, Brazil, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and Croatia, who round out the world’s top 10 teams.
