With just nine days remaining before the kickoff of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has unveiled his final 28-man squad for the tournament set to take place from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, in Morocco.
In goal, Francis Uzoho makes a comeback to the national setup after last appearing in March 2024. He forms part of a goalkeeping trio that includes Stanley Nwabali whose fitness remains a concernand Amas Obasogie.
The defensive lineup also witnesses fresh additions, with Blackburn Rovers’ Ryan Alebiosu receiving his first call-up and Slavia Prague’s Igoh Ogbu joining as a central defensive option. They will line up alongside established names such as Calvin Bassey, Oluwasemilogo Ajayi, Chidozie Awaziem, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Bruno Onyemaechi and Zaidu Sanusi, giving the team depth and versatility at the back.
In midfield, Chelle introduces further reinforcements with the inclusion of Inter Milan youngster Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, Israel-based Usman Muhammed, and former Flying Eagles standout Tochukwu Nnadi. These rising talents will complement the experience of Alex Iwobi, Frank Onyeka, Wilfred Ndidi, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Raphael Onyedika, forming a balanced and dynamic engine room capable of dictating play.
The forward line is spearheaded by star striker Victor Osimhen, who leads a potent attacking unit. He is supported by proven performers such as Ademola Lookman, Samuel Chukwueze and Moses Simon, along with the Sevilla duo of Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke. Paul Onuachu and Cyriel Dessers also make the squad, while Croatia-based youngster Lawal Salim Fago earns his first senior call-up.

As part of their preparations, the Super Eagles will hold a pre-tournament training camp in Egypt, where they are expected to face the Pharaohs in an unofficial friendly on December 16. The team will then proceed to Morocco, where they will compete in Group C against Tunisia, Tanzania and Uganda.
Nigeria’s AFCON campaign begins on December 23 with a clash against Tanzania in Fès. The highly anticipated encounter with Tunisia follows on December 27, before the group stage concludes with a match against Uganda on December 31.
