The extent of the injury is yet to be confirmed, but concerns are mounting as Nwabali is expected to play a pivotal role in Nigeria’s upcoming fixtures against Rwanda and South Africa.
His presence has been central to the Super Eagles’ defensive strategy, and his absence could prove costly.
Nigeria currently sit fourth in their qualifying group with seven points, trailing leaders South Africa by six, with only two matches remaining.
Since making his debut, Nwabali has earned 21 caps for Nigeria, cementing his reputation as a reliable shot-stopper under coach Eric Chelle.
At the club level, he has been outstanding this season, recording a league-high 82 saves in the 2024/2025 Premier Soccer League campaign.
