Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman will lead the Super Eagles’ attack as Nigeria takes on Rwanda in a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier tonight in Kigali.
Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has named Chippa United’s Stanley Nwabali as the starting goalkeeper, maintaining faith in the shot-stopper following his solid performances at the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations. Bright Osayi-Samuel will start at right-back, while Ola Aina takes the left-back role, with Bruno Onyemaechi dropping to the bench. Captain William Troost-Ekong will marshal the defense alongside Fulham’s Calvin Bassey at center-back.
In midfield, Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi will play a key role in shielding the defense, while Alex Iwobi will provide creativity and link-up play between midfield and attack. Nantes winger Moses Simon and AC Milan’s Samuel Chukwueze will provide width from the flanks, aiming to supply crosses and support the attack.
Nigeria will be looking for their first win of the qualifiers after drawing their opening four matches. A victory tonight would significantly boost their chances of qualifying, especially after Benin Republic’s recent draw with Zimbabwe.
The Super Eagles will need to be at their best against a determined Rwandan side, who currently lead Group C alongside South Africa with seven points. A win for Nigeria would close the gap and keep their World Cup dreams alive.
