The Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) has announced that the highly anticipated 2025 NWFL Nationwide tournament will take place at the Bwari Township Stadium in Abuja.
The tournament is scheduled to run from 10 to 17 October and will feature ten teams competing for esteemed honors in women’s football.
In a statement released by Modupe Shabi, the Chief Operating Officer of the NWFL, the details regarding the kickoff date, venue, and match fixtures were disclosed, reaffirming the organisation’s commitment to advancing women’s football throughout Nigeria.

Shabi emphasised the significance of the NWFL nationwide competition, which serves as a vital platform for emerging clubs aspiring to elevate their status within Nigeria’s women’s football league.
“The nationwide competition is an essential avenue for clubs nationwide to exhibit their capabilities and acquire invaluable experience as they navigate the league system.
“We are committed to ensuring that the tournament is not only competitive and transparent but also successful,” stated Shabi.
According to the comprehensive competition schedule, participating teams are expected to arrive at the venue on October 10, followed by a pre-match technical meeting to discuss logistics and preparations.
Official matches will commence on October 11 and proceed through the tournament, occurring on October 13, 14, 16, and 17.
The schedule includes rest days on October 12 and 15, allowing teams time to recuperate and strategise for their subsequent matches.
Shabi highlighted the importance of the tournament, explaining that the stakes are particularly high for the teams involved.
The top two teams from each group will gain promotion to the NWFL Championship, offering a strong incentive for the clubs to showcase their skills and ambition throughout the competition.
“At the conclusion of the tournament, the two best teams from each group will be promoted to the NWFL Championship, representing a significant achievement for all participating clubs. We wish them the very best and anticipate an exciting week filled with remarkable women’s football in the Federal Capital Territory,” she added.

The teams are organised into two competitive groups.
Group A
– Osklean FC (Rivers)
– Rangers Women FC (Enugu)
– Plateau Queens FC (Plateau)
– DreamStars Ladies FC (Lagos)
– C2E Sports Academy (Abia).
Group B
– Sporting Angels FC (Rivers)
– Alexander Queens FC (Enugu)
– Rosaria Victrix FC (Imo)
– NAF Queens FC (Abuja)
– Solo Wonders FC (Akwa Ibom)
