The club confirmed on Tuesday that Sean Dyche has been appointed as the third coach for Nottingham Forest in the 2024/25 season.
With a contract extending until the summer of 2027, Dyche replaces Ange Postecoglou after a winless streak of matches.
In a statement shared on the club’s X handle, it was noted that his appointment followed a thorough recruitment process led by Global Head of Football Edu Gaspar and Global Technical Director George Syrianos.
“The former Forest youth player joins the club on a contract that lasts until the summer of 2027 and will lead the team in his first match on Thursday night as The Reds face FC Porto in the Europa League.
“Dyche will be accompanied by his experienced coaching team, Ian Woan and Steve Stone, both former Nottingham Forest players who collectively made over 400 appearances for the Reds during the 1990s.
“Dyche is a respected Premier League manager who brings a perfect mix of character, tactical knowledge, and proven success to guide the club through its next chapter. Having managed over 330 Premier League matches in his career, Dyche has built teams known for their defensive organisation, resilience, and effectiveness from set pieces—qualities that align closely with the attributes of the current squad and the club’s footballing identity.
“As a former youth player who resides locally, Dyche deeply understands the values and pride associated with Nottingham Forest and its supporters. His character, tactical insight, and man-management skills represent a strong opportunity for a successful and competitive season in both domestic and European competitions,” stated Nottingham Forest.
Sean Dyche began his managerial career at Watford in 2011, leading the club to an 11th-place finish in the Championship before being dismissed due to a change in ownership. His most successful period was at Burnley (2012–2022), where he managed over 400 games, achieving two promotions to the Premier League and guiding the team to a remarkable 7th-place finish in the 2017–18 season, securing a spot in European competition.
In 2023, Dyche took charge of Everton, navigating the club through financial difficulties and relegation battles. Despite these challenges, he maintained stability and defensive strength, recording 13 clean sheets in the 2023–24 season.
