Nigeria’s women in football continue to soar on the continental stage, making an impressive mark at the CAF Awards held in Rabat, Morocco.
From individual brilliance to collective excellence, the recognition received even in categories not fully dominated, reflects the depth of talent within Nigerian women’s football.
For the third year running, Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has been named CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year (2025). She triumphed over Morocco’s Khadija Er-Rmichi and South Africa’s Andile Dlamini, further cementing her status as the finest shot-stopper in Africa.
Nnadozie’s outstanding year included helping Paris FC win the Coupe de France Féminine, and starring for the Super Falcons as they clinched a record 10th WAFCON title, where she kept four clean sheets and secured the tournament’s Best Goalkeeper award.
After WAFCON, she made a seamless transition to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Women’s Super League, delivering a Player of the Match performance on her debut and earning several nominations, including WSL Save of the Month and PFA Fans’ Player of the Month.
In the team category, the Super Falcons were crowned Women’s Team of the Year at the 2025 CAF Awards. They triumphed over strong challengers,Ghana’s Black Queens and Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses to reaffirm their status as Africa’s most decorated women’s national team. Their recognition follows their dominant campaign at the 2024 WAFCON, where they emerged champions in Morocco.
On the individual honours list, Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak was named CAF Women’s Player of the Year, edging Nigeria’s Rasheedat Ajibade.
Chebbak’s consistent performances for both club and country earned her the prestigious award. Meanwhile, Ajibade, who had an outstanding season with the Super Falcons and PSG, finished closely behind after playing a key role in Nigeria’s successful WAFCON run.
Shakirat Moshood earned the distinguished honor of being named one of the Top 3 finalists for the Young Player of the Year (Women) award in Africa.
This highlights her exceptional talents and contributions to the sport over the past year. Joining her in this esteemed recognition is Bayelsa Queens, a well-respected team in women’s football, which has also made the prestigious finalist list.
