Ahead of the final qualifying matches against the Benin Republic for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, the Nigeria Football Federation has officially awarded Justine Madugu a two-year contract as the head coach of the Super Falcons. This contract solidifies Madugu’s role as the substantive head coach of the multiple African champions.
The 61-year-old guided the Super Falcons to a record-extending 10th title at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. He initially took on the role on an interim basis after the resignation of the team’s former coach, Randy Waldrum, last year.
The Super Falcons are preparing for their WAFCON 2026 qualifier against the Benin Republic. In anticipation of this crucial match, Madugu has invited 21 players, including captain Rasheedat Ajibade and forward Asisat Oshoala.
The squad features three goalkeepers, seven defenders, five midfielders, and six forwards. Notable invitees include Chiamaka Nnadozie, who has been named Africa’s Goalkeeper of the Year for two consecutive years; defenders Michelle Alozie and Ashleigh Plumptre; midfielders Jennifer Echegini and Deborah Abiodun; and forwards Chinwendu Ihezuo and Folashade Ijamilusi.
Stade Kegue in Lome will be set to host the first leg of the qualifying match while the return leg is scheduled for the MKO Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
