Napoli secured a vital 2-1 victory over AC Milan at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, keeping their Serie A title hopes alive as they remain three points behind league leaders Inter Milan.
Antonio Conte’s side started strongly, striking twice in the opening 19 minutes. Matteo Politano opened the scoring in just the second minute with a well-placed shot from the edge of the box. Romelu Lukaku then doubled the lead in the 19th minute, finishing from close range after a precise assist from Billy Gilmour.
Despite Napoli’s early dominance, ninth-placed Milan fought back in the second half. Luka Jović gave them hope with a late goal in the 84th minute, but they ultimately failed to find an equalizer. Santiago Giménez missed a golden opportunity to bring Milan back into the game earlier, having his penalty saved by Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret.
Milan, missing midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek after his appendix surgery, had several late chances, with Jović coming closest in stoppage time when he fired just wide. However, Napoli held firm to secure an important win.
Elsewhere, Serie A leaders Inter Milan maintained their three-point advantage with a 2-1 victory over Udinese, while Atalanta suffered a 1-0 defeat to Fiorentina, further denting their slim title aspirations.
