London, Friday – Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has firmly dismissed speculation regarding Andrey Santos’ potential departure from the club, expressing his satisfaction with the young midfielder’s presence at Stamford Bridge.
In a statement shared by football journalist Fabrizio Romano on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, Maresca made clear that Santos remains an important figure in his plans for the upcoming season.
“I’m very happy with Andrey and very happy with Andrey staying here with us,” said Maresca. “He can play in Enzo Fernandez’s position for sure, he can play in Moi Caicedo’s position for sure.”
Santos’ ability to operate in various midfield roles, including those typically occupied by Fernandez and Caicedo, has made him a valuable option in Maresca’s squad. The Italian manager’s remarks underline the club’s intention to utilise the Brazilian talent throughout the 2025/26 campaign.
“This versatility positions Santos as a key asset for Chelsea,” Maresca added, reinforcing his decision to retain the player amid speculation over his future.

The Blues are set to face West Ham United on Friday evening at the London Stadium, with both sides eager to secure their first victory of the new Premier League season. Chelsea were held to a goalless draw by Crystal Palace on the opening weekend, while West Ham suffered a disappointing 3-0 defeat to newly promoted Sunderland.
Historically, Chelsea have the upper hand in this London rivalry, winning 16 of the last 29 meetings. West Ham have managed eight victories in that time, with five matches ending in draws. However, recent form suggests a competitive encounter, as the Hammers have won four of their last eight home league games against Chelsea.
Kick-off is scheduled for 8:00pm (BST).
