Fulham manager Marco Silva has urged Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze to push harder for a permanent place in the starting lineup after his lively display against Sunderland.
The Super Eagles star was named Fulham’s Royal Caribbean Legend of the Match for setting up the winning goal in their 1–0 victory on Saturday.
Silva expressed satisfaction with the 25-year-old’s performance and emphasised how valuable he could be for the squad.
“He made a big difference. The assist was excellent, and we’re happy for him. The next step is for him to break into the starting team and maintain that level for the entire match,” Silva told the club’s official website.
After an inconsistent spell at AC Milan, the winger is determined to revive his form linking up with fellow Nigerians Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey at Craven Cottage.
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano reported that the overall cost of the deal could exceed €25 million.
His deal includes a non-obligatory purchase option.
Since moving to England, Chukwueze has had a gradual introduction, making only five appearances all from the bench. He has played 108 minutes out of a possible 450 and contributed two assists.
