Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed that forward Diogo Jota will be sidelined until after the November international break due to a rib injury. The Portuguese striker suffered the injury during Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Chelsea on October 20 following a collision with Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo.
Jota, 27, has missed the last two matches and has yet to return to training. He is expected to miss at least four more games, including Liverpool’s upcoming EFL Cup clash against Brighton, as well as Premier League and Champions League fixtures. The international break, running from November 11-19, will provide additional time for recovery before Liverpool’s schedule resumes with a Premier League fixture against Southampton on November 24.
Slot also provided updates on other sidelined players, including goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who is dealing with a hamstring injury, and midfielder Harvey Elliott, who is out with a fractured foot. Federico Chiesa, Liverpool’s summer signing from Juventus, is also unavailable, having only made three appearances this season due to ongoing fitness issues.
Slot mentioned that young defender Conor Bradley has returned to training and could be in contention for the squad in Wednesday’s EFL Cup game against Brighton.
Liverpool’s fixture list remains challenging, with upcoming games against Brighton in the EFL Cup and Premier League, followed by crucial Champions League and league fixtures against Bayer Leverkusen and Aston Villa, respectively.
