Nigeria’s Falconets have made history by clinching their first WAFU B U-20 Girls Cup, achieving this remarkable feat with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over the host nation, Benin Republic, specifically in Adjouhoun, on Wednesday.
The pivotal moment of the match came in the 16th minute when Ramotalahi Kareem found the back of the net, securing the only goal of the game.
This victory crowns a stunning tournament for Moses Aduku’s squad, who went undefeated with four wins out of four matches throughout the competition.
In total, the Falconets showcased their offensive prowess by scoring an impressive 10 goals while only conceding a single goal across all their matches, demonstrating their dominance in the tournament.
They displayed their strength by defeating the Young Amazons of Benin Republic as well as the Black Princesses of Ghana on two separate occasions, paving their way to lifting the championship trophy.
In individual accolades, Ghana’s U20 midfielder Sarah Nyarko was awarded the Overall Best Player of the tournament after delivering standout performances, contributing two goals and providing an assist during the competition.
Additionally, Falconets’ standout forward, Ramotalahi Kareem, was honored with the Top Scorer Award at the WAFU B U20 Girls Championship, showcasing her incredible talent by scoring a total of four goals throughout the tournament.
Lastly, Falconets’ Christiana Ijeoma Uzoma was recognized for her exceptional performances in goal, taking home the Safe Hands Award as the Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament.
Her remarkable displays between the posts established her as a formidable barrier, with opponents finding it nearly impossible to breach her defenses.
