The Dutch Grand Prix will conclude its run on the Formula 1 calendar after 2026, following a one-year extension to its current contract for the 2025 and 2026 events at the Zandvoort Circuit. The race, which made its return in 2021 after a 36-year absence, has struggled financially despite sell-out crowds, largely thanks to local hero Max Verstappen’s success.

Zandvoort’s final race in 2026 will feature a special “sprint” event on Saturday, followed by the main race on Sunday. Dutch Grand Prix director Robert Van Overdijk cited the need to balance financial viability with the event’s popularity, choosing to end the run on a high note.

Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali praised the event’s contribution to the sport, especially its focus on sustainability and young talent development. As the sport expands, F1 plans to rotate some European races and explore new locations, including potential races in Africa and a debut event in Madrid in 2026, taking over from Barcelona.
