Chippa United have officially confirmed the departure of Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, bringing an end to his more than three-year spell with the South African club.
The Port Elizabeth–based side announced the development on Thursday via their official X (formerly Twitter) account, revealing that the Nigerian international formally requested to leave the club.
In a statement, Chippa United disclosed that the 28-year-old shot-stopper’s request was carefully reviewed before management agreed to grant his release.
“Chippa United Football Club confirms that Stanley Nwabali has formally submitted a request to depart the club. After careful consideration, the club has agreed to grant his release,” the statement read.
The club also expressed gratitude to the goalkeeper for his professionalism and commitment during his time with the Chilli Boys.
“We would like to sincerely thank Stanley Nwabali for the years of service, commitment, and professionalism he has shown during his time at Chippa United Football Club. His contribution to the club will always be appreciated,” the statement added.

Nwabali joined Chippa United in 2022 from Nigeria Premier Football League side Katsina United, marking his first move outside Nigeria.
During his time in South Africa, he grew into a key figure for the club and earned national recognition, eventually becoming Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper.
While Nwabali did not lift a major trophy during his stint at Chippa United, he played a crucial role in several strong league campaigns and was instrumental in helping the club maintain its Premier Soccer League status.
His next destination has yet to be officially announced.
