In a bid to expand the organization’s commercial strategy, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled eAFCON, a digital version of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations.
In a statement released on Friday, CAF said the initiative marks its entry into the rapidly growing eSports industry.
The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in the organisation’s history will be represented in the eGaming space.

CAF explained that eAFCON is being developed to diversify its revenue sources while attracting new and younger audiences across Africa and globally. The governing body described the project as a major milestone for the growth of the African eSports ecosystem.
According to the statement, digital assets generated from eAFCON will be incorporated into CAF’s commercial portfolio starting from the next TotalEnergies CAF AFCON cycle, further enhancing the organisation’s commercial value and long-term revenue potential.
CAF also highlighted the strong commercial performance of recent AFCON tournaments.
The Morocco 2025 edition, in particular, recorded a revenue increase of more than 90 per cent, fueled by expanded sponsorship deals, broader media rights coverage, and penetration into new markets such as China, Japan, Turkey, and the European Union.
“The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 stands as the most commercially successful tournament in the history of African football,” CAF said.
“This success is the result of a significant rise in commercial partnerships, wider media rights distribution, and CAF’s expansion into new markets, especially in the Far East, while continuing to strengthen its traditional markets.”
