Louis Buffon, son of legendary Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, has pledged his international future to the Czech Republic rather than Italy.
The 17-year-old Pisa winger, who qualifies for the Czech team through his mother, model Alena Seredova, has been called up to the Czech U-18 squad for upcoming matches against England, France, and Portugal.
Buffon made his professional debut for Pisa in Serie B earlier this month and believes representing the Czech Republic is the best choice for his development.
“I talked to my family, and we decided this was the best path for my career,” he said in an interview with the Czech Football Association.
His father, a 2006 World Cup winner with Italy, fully supports the decision. “My dad was excited for me and advised me to play for the Czech Republic because it’s the best way for me to grow as a player,” Buffon added.
Despite his deep ties to Italy, Louis remains focused on his own journey. “I was born and raised in Italy, but as a professional, I must treat every game the same, whether against Italy or any other team.”
His decision has drawn worldwide attention, but the young winger remains unfazed, ready to make his mark on the international stage.
