Footballers are often rewarded for stellar performances, but Norwegian club Bryne FK has taken a unique approach—gifting their man of the match with eggs.
Goalkeeper Jan de Boer received four trays of eggs after an outstanding performance in Bryne’s season-opening 1-0 defeat to Bodo/Glimt. The Dutch shot-stopper made several crucial saves, including a second-half penalty stop, keeping his side in the game.
The club’s unusual prize is a nod to Bryne’s deep agricultural roots. Based near Stavanger, the team embraces its farming heritage, with fans proudly chanting, “We are farmers and we are proud of it.” Even the VIP section includes pitchside tractor seating.
But players shouldn’t get too attached to the eggs—Bryne FK has announced that their next man of the match, on April 6 against Kristiansund, will receive cartons of local milk instead.
