Bayern Munich has announced that head coach Vincent Kompany has renewed his contract for an additional two years, extending it until 2029.
Initially not the first choice for the position when appointed in the summer of 2024, the Belgian Kompany successfully led the Bavarians to reclaim the Bundesliga title from Bayer Leverkusen in his debut season.
The former Manchester City captain has maintained an impeccable record this season, winning all 11 matches played and positioning the team at the top of both the Champions League and Bundesliga tables.

“It feels like I’ve been here a lot longer, and I know the club well,” said the 39-year-old in a statement. “It’s been a great experience so far. We’ve started on a wonderful journey. Let’s keep working hard and celebrate much more success!”
Before taking over as manager of FC Bayern Munich in 2024, Vincent Kompany built his coaching reputation at RSC Anderlecht and Burnley FC.
He began his managerial career at Anderlecht in 2019, first as a player-manager and then fully transitioning to head coach in 2020. Over three seasons, he managed 95 matches, achieving 43 wins, 30 draws, and 22 losses.
His tenure there was characterised by a clear attacking philosophy, a strong emphasis on youth development, and guiding the club to regular top-four finishes, including a Belgian Cup final appearance in 2022.
In 2022, Kompany joined Burnley, a club that had recently been relegated from the Premier League. His impact was immediate; in his first season, he led Burnley to Championship victory with 101 points, securing promotion back to the Premier League while implementing an attractive, possession-based style.
