Atalanta have lowered their valuation of Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman from €50 million to €35 million, opening the door to a potential summer transfer.
The Bergamo-based club had previously stood firm on a €50m release clause and blocked any move, citing an earlier agreement with the player that ruled out transfers to fellow Serie A sides. However, according to transfer insider Ekrem Konur, Atalanta have now softened their stance, with Everton and several other European clubs closely monitoring the situation.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Atlético Madrid are long-term admirers of the versatile attacker and are considering a move, although the Spanish side are yet to make formal contact with either Atalanta or the player’s representatives.

Turkish champions Galatasaray have also stepped up their interest in the Nigerian international, but talks have so far failed to yield a concrete agreement. This is despite confirmation from his compatriot and Galatasaray striker, Victor Osimhen, that he has discussed the prospect of a move with Lookman.
In Italy, reigning champions Napoli remain keen. Despite Atalanta’s reluctance to sell to domestic rivals, the Naples-based club have intensified discussions as they look to strengthen their attacking options before the transfer window closes.
The 28-year-old has been a consistent performer for Atalanta, registering 55 goals and 27 assists in 136 appearances. His reputation soared in May 2024 when he scored a historic hat-trick to fire the club to their first-ever UEFA Europa League title.
While Lookman’s club form this season may have influenced Atalanta’s decision to reduce their asking price, his international performances have underlined his enduring quality. At the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, the Super Eagles star impressed with three goals and four assists for Nigeria, once again showcasing his threat and influence against top opposition.
