Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare found the net as KRC Genk cruised to a commanding 4-0 victory over KAA Gent in their Belgian Pro League Championship playoff match at the Cegeka Arena on Sunday.
Arokodare thought he had opened the scoring in the 28th minute, but his goal was ruled out. However, he made no mistake five minutes into the second half, doubling Genk’s lead with a clinical finish. The 24-year-old now has an impressive 18 goals in 31 league appearances this season.
The forward was substituted in the 70th minute for Oh Hyeon-Gyu, who went on to score twice late in the game. Former Flying Eagles winger Yira Sor also featured, coming on in the 89th minute, while Gent’s Nigerian defender Jordan Torunarigha played the full match.
Genk’s emphatic win strengthens their push for the league title as they continue their playoff campaign.
