A revelation has emerged following a fatal road accident involving British-Nigerian former world boxing champion Anthony Joshua.
His driver disclosed that Joshua narrowly escaped death by switching seats shortly before the crash.
The 46 year old driver, Kayode Adeniyi is currently in custody and has been charged with four offences, including dangerous and negligent driving, as well as driving without a valid licence.
In an interview with Daily Mail, Adeniyi’s lawyer, Olalekan Abiodun, explained that Joshua was originally seated in the front of the Lexus SUV but was asked to move to the back seat by the driver.
According to him, the request was made because Joshua’s size obstructed the driver’s view of the wing mirror.
“My client has pleaded not guilty. He maintains that the incident was an accident and claims the vehicle’s brakes failed,” Abiodun said.
“The journey began in Lagos. Anthony was first in the front seat, but the driver asked him to move to the back. Latif was initially seated at the back and later swapped seats with Anthony.”
