The Federal Government has confirmed that match bonuses for the Super Eagles at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations have successfully passed all required regulatory approvals.
In a statement released on Thursday, the Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anite, disclosed that the payments are expected to start reflecting in the players’ domiciliary accounts from today or tomorrow.
She explained that the Federal Government, in collaboration with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has resolved all foreign exchange-related processes to ensure prompt payment of the players’ entitlements.

According to her, new measures have also been introduced to guarantee faster and more predictable disbursements in line with international standards going forward.
Uzoka-Anite noted that all group-stage bonuses have been fully funded and cleared, with a fast-track foreign currency conversion process already completed to accommodate the players’ preferences. The final transfers, she added, are currently being processed.
She emphasized that the government remains committed to the welfare of the team as they continue their impressive run in the tournament, expressing optimism about Nigeria’s chances of lifting the trophy.
The Super Eagles have been outstanding at AFCON 2025, winning all four of their matches so far and emerging as the tournament’s highest-scoring team with 12 goals. They topped Group C before recording a dominant 4–0 victory over Mozambique in the second round.
Nigeria will face Algeria next, with the winner set to meet either Morocco or Cameroon in the semi-finals.
