Morocco’s football federation welcomed the decision, calling it a win for fairness and respect for the rules. It said the ruling “reinforces respect for the laws and ensures the necessary stability” in football competitions.
CAF’s Appeal Board said Senegal violated key regulations, leading to the match being forfeited and Morocco being confirmed as champions.
The Moroccan federation explained that its appeal was not about the match result but about making sure rules were followed.
“The goal of this step was not to challenge the athletic performance, but was limited to demanding respect for the laws and ensuring the integrity and fairness of the competition,” it said.

It also noted that “the applicable laws, which apply to everyone, were not respected,” adding that the new ruling corrected that mistake.
Senegal has rejected the decision as “grossly unjust” and plans to take the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Despite the criticism, Morocco believes the decision will improve African football. It said it could “enhance the credibility and organisation” of the game and ensure the “strict and fair application” of rules in future competitions.
