The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed confidence in its ability to reclaim power in the 2027 general elections, citing party unity and renewed strength as key factors.
Speaking during a reconciliation and welcome-back event in Gusau, APC State Chairman Tukur Danfulani Maikatako, represented by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris Gusau, said the party had learnt valuable lessons from its defeat in the 2023 governorship election.
According to Danfulani, the loss was not due to the superiority of the opposition but rather the result of internal divisions and disunity.
“We are now hopeful that our party, which was derailed by members who felt offended, has resolved its disagreements. The party is now united under the leadership of Senator Abdulaziz Yari and the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle,” he stated.
He emphasised that Zamfara remains an APC stronghold, adding that recent efforts to mend internal rifts and eliminate factionalism had significantly strengthened the party’s position ahead of the next electoral cycle.
“Recently, the party witnessed the massive cancellation of factions, making it great again without unnecessary accusations that previously created misunderstandings and blocked channels for electoral victory,” Danfulani added.
The highlight of the event was the official return of Ahmad Sharu Anka, a prominent grassroots politician, to the Yari-Matawalle faction of the APC. Anka, a two-time local government chairman and former Commissioner for Lands, had previously aligned with the faction loyal to Aminu Sani Jaji, a member of the House of Representatives.
Declaring his renewed commitment to party unity, Anka said, “As a grassroots politician, I have chosen to struggle for the perfect unity of the APC to ensure the total recovery of its lost power come 2027. Zamfara has always been a stronghold of the APC, and we will maintain that position.”
The event marks a key moment in the APC’s early preparations for the 2027 elections, with party leaders prioritising reconciliation and internal cohesion as they seek to rebuild public trust and electoral momentum.
