Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has called on Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, to continue praying for him, admitting that he was not called by God to be a pastor.
Wike made the remark on Wednesday during the commissioning of the Ikot-Esu-Otomo-Azumini Road project in Akwa Ibom State. Speaking in a light-hearted but pointed tone, he acknowledged Governor Eno’s spiritual background while pledging continued political support.
“You are a humble man, you are a man of God. Continue to pray for me because God has given it to you. But me, I will continue to support you,” Wike said.
He added, “So, you that God said you should be praying, pray while I will continue to support you. The politics I believe is that you do for me, I do for you, you fall for me, I fall for you.”

Wike also urged the governor to embrace the power of forgiveness in governance, describing it not as a weakness but as a sign of strength and leadership maturity.
“Forgiveness is not a weak point, rather it’s strength. It doesn’t matter what happens, relate with people who have helped you before. It does not mean that you are weak, but you have taken a decision to move Akwa Ibom forward,” he stated.
The FCT Minister commended Governor Eno’s performance and pledged his continued support for the state’s development efforts, praising the governor’s humility and dedication to service.
Wike’s comments come amid growing political alliances across states as key figures position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections. His visit highlights ongoing cooperation between federal and state leaders on infrastructural development and governance.
