Several prominent members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State have formally defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), citing persistent internal crises and a lack of direction within the PDP.
The high-profile defections were announced on Monday and include senior party executives, former candidates, and notable stakeholders. Leading the group was the PDP Publicity Secretary in Lagos State, Hakeem Amode, who lamented the party’s decline and growing irrelevance.
Amode criticised the PDP’s inability to resolve internal conflicts, saying the party had strayed from its founding values and had become a symbol of instability and factionalism.
“The PDP no longer represents the ideals it once stood for. It has become a fragmented and directionless platform, unable to inspire confidence or unity,” Amode stated.
