President Bola Tinubu will depart Lagos on Monday, January 6, for Accra, the capital of the Republic of Ghana, to attend the inauguration of President-elect John Dramani Mahama on January 7.
This was disclosed in a statement issued today by Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy.
Mahama, who previously served as Ghana’s 12th president from 2011 to 2017, was reelected in December 2024 and will succeed President Nana Akufo-Addo, who served from 2017 to 2025.
According to Onanuga, the President’s trip to Accra follows an invitation from the president-elect, who paid a visit to the Nigerian leader in December.
He further highlighted the personal bond between Mahama and Tinubu, which mirrors the strong bilateral ties between Nigeria and Ghana.
