President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja in the early hours of Thursday, concluding a series of high-profile international engagements in Japan and Brazil.
The President’s return marks the end of a strategic diplomatic mission aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s global partnerships and advancing economic cooperation.
Tinubu’s first stop was Japan, where he attended the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD).

During the summit, he held bilateral talks with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and other key stakeholders, focusing on trade, infrastructure development, and technological collaboration.
The discussions emphasised Japan’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s energy sector and agricultural innovation, with both nations exploring avenues for increased foreign direct investment.
Tinubu also engaged with Japanese business leaders, promoting Nigeria as a prime destination for investment in Africa.
From Japan, Tinubu proceeded to Brazil for the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro.
Representing Nigeria, he joined world leaders to address pressing global issues, including climate change, sustainable development, and economic resilience.
Tinubu advocated for equitable representation of African nations in global governance and pushed for reforms in international financial systems to support developing economies.
His meetings with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and other G20 leaders centred on enhancing South-South cooperation, particularly in agriculture, renewable energy, and digital innovation.
Upon his return to Abuja, Tinubu was welcomed by senior government officials at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.
The Presidency stated that the outcomes of the trips would soon translate into tangible economic benefits for Nigerians, including job creation and infrastructure development.

Tinubu is expected to brief the Federal Executive Council on the agreements reached and outline the next steps for implementation.
The President’s diplomatic efforts underscore Nigeria’s growing influence on the global stage as he continues to prioritise economic diversification and international collaboration.
