President Bola Tinubu on Thursday wrote the National Assembly proposing a budget of N1.48 trillion to be approved for Rivers State.
In the letter read at plenary by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, Tinubu explained that when approved, the money would be used by the Emergency Rule Government of Rivers State to provide for education, agriculture, provision of free drugs, among others.

Akpabio explained that N324billion is earmarked for Infrastructure development in the fiscal year, N166billion for health, N75.6billion for education, N31.4billion for agriculture and N5 billion for free drug distribution to all categories of people in the state.
The Senate accordingly referred the budgetary proposal to its Committee on Emergency Rule in Rivers State for consideration and to report back.

Recall that the issue of the budget presentation was among the knotty issues between suspended Governor Similayi Fubara and the also suspended Rivers House of Assembly.
