The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has claimed that President Bola Tinubu is losing focus on his primary duty, noting that he is too distracted by politics.
The party on Friday insisted that Tinubu is failing in his main responsibility, which is to keep Nigerians safe.
The ADC, in an official statement signed by the spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, expressed worry over the high level of insecurity across the country.
The party noted that the decision by some foreign embassies to move their staff shows that the world is losing trust in Nigeria’s safety.
The party pointed out that while citizens are being killed and kidnapped, the government seems more interested in the 2027 elections.
The ADC stated that Tinubu has turned his role into one of just sending sympathy messages instead of taking real action.

“The President is so consumed by politics that he is increasingly losing sight of his primary responsibility, which is the protection of the lives of Nigerians,” the statement read.
The ADC mentioned that many communities in places like Plateau, Benue, and Borno are under constant attack.
They said that even when there are warnings before these attacks happen, the government fails to stop them.
“But instead, we are witnessing a President who is so preoccupied with politics that he has reduced his role as Commander-in-Chief to merely issuing condolences and condemnations,” the party said.
The party maintained that the current way the government handles security is not working, calling on Tinubu to stop the political games and focus on his job.
The ADC said Tinubu needs to be humble enough to admit that things are going wrong.
The statement continued, “The President should have the humility to admit that he has failed, and every single life lost under his watch is evidence of this tragic failure.”
The party also argued that the presidency is a heavy duty and not a prize to be enjoyed, reminding Tinubu that his first obligation is to the people who rely on him for protection.
“Until there is a clear break from the current pattern, both Nigerians and the international community will continue to question the willingness of this government to meet its most basic obligation,” the ADC said.
The ADC urged the Tinubu-led administration to come up with a better plan to secure the country so that Nigerians can live without fear.
