Senator Aminu Tambuwal, former Governor of Sokoto State and ex-Speaker of the House of Representatives, has declared his unwavering determination to see President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ousted from office in the 2027 general elections through democratic means.
Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, Tambuwal said:
“I am committed to using every democratic means possible to make sure that President Tinubu leaves office in 2027. It’s not by my power, but by the grace of God, this will happen.”
Tambuwal, now representing Sokoto South Senatorial District, has emerged in recent months as one of the most vocal critics of the Tinubu administration, aligning with other opposition figures who argue that Nigeria is drifting under the current leadership.
Atiku understands governance better than Tinubu
Tambuwal also compared President Tinubu to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, asserting that Atiku would have made a far better president.
“Atiku is better at getting the job done than Tinubu,” Tambuwal said. “Atiku is better in many ways, in understanding the dynamics of running the government.”
He accused Tinubu of lacking federal experience, claiming the President had been “confined to locality in Lagos” and does not fully grasp how the national system operates.
“Tinubu has always been confined to locality in Lagos and has never been a federal operator,” he argued. “Look at it — up till now we don’t have ambassadors. Two years and almost three months into the administration — what does that tell you?”

Silent on EFCC case
When asked to speak on his recent encounter with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Tambuwal declined to offer details.
“I would not want to discuss that at the moment,” he said, sidestepping the issue.
However, the Senator has previously hinted at political motivations behind attempts to destabilise opposition figures — a claim he reiterated in the same interview, saying the Tinubu administration is involved in the “destabilisation of opposition parties”.
2027: Coalitions already taking shape
Tambuwal’s remarks are the latest in a growing wave of pre-election rhetoric, with talks of an emerging opposition coalition involving Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and other influential figures ahead of 2027.
He has publicly suggested that a unified opposition front would be unbeatable, especially if power remains elusive for everyday Nigerians under the current government.
