Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has called on the newly inaugurated Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr Bernard Doro, to demonstrate unwavering loyalty to President Bola Tinubu.
The New Daily Prime earlier reported that Tinubu administered the oath of office to Doro on Thursday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Speaking at a reception held at the Rainbow Event Marquee, Plot 1193A, Off Southern Parkway, Garki Area 8, Abuja, Mutfwang reminded the minister that his duty extends to the entire nation, not just a section of it.

The governor expressed confidence that Doro would uphold justice and integrity in the discharge of his duties, adding that he believed the minister would make both Nigeria and the diaspora community proud.
“I wish you the best. Please, let’s rally around him. Pray with him. Pray for him. And let’s support him in every way possible. For me, this is a joy that God has found you worthy to occupy this position. I can promise you that I will definitely be praying for you.
“And we will join hands together and make sure that whatever is supposed to be of benefit to Plato people comes to Plato people. And more than that, you will be a successful minister of the Federal Republic. May God help you”, said the governor.
Furthermore, the governor described Dr Doro’s appointment as a testament to the popular Nigerian, saying, “What God cannot do does not exist.”
He noted that Doro’s emergence as a minister goes beyond Plateau State merely securing a seat in the Federal Executive Council; it reflects the confidence that the position is being occupied by someone genuinely deserving of the office.
Mutfwang further stated that the appointment underscored the state’s wealth of competent representatives.
He expressed his satisfaction that Doro is succeeding Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, the current Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who once held the same position before assuming his present role.
He noted, “I have been privileged to meet with Dr Bernard Doro, when I had my first trip to the UK, upon being sworn in as Governor, and I met a very thoroughbred, professional, humble, cerebral, plateau citizen, and who gave me one of the most expensive lunches in the UK. Little did we know that God was preparing him for something. His story is a story that tells us that only God opens a door, and when he opens a door, no man can shut it down. When God shuts a door, there is no energy you put in that can force it back in.
“It is a lesson for us to understand that unless the Lord builds the house, those who labour do so in vain. Tonight, we celebrate this well-deserved appointment.
I want to thank the President of the Federal Republic, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for ensuring that our seat in the Federal Executive Council did not remain vacant. I am confident that you will build upon the solid foundation he has laid, not only bringing excellence to bear but also enriching the administration with the unique work ethic you have acquired from the diaspora.” The governor expressed confidence that Dr Doro would demonstrate excellence, diligence, and creativity in fulfilling the ministry’s mandate.
He emphasised that the state government would provide every necessary support to ensure Dr Doro’s success as minister.
“I believe we as plateau people, like the Speaker said, we have only one job to do. When the national cake is being shared in Abuja, it’s not shared on the basis of a party or tribe. It’s shared on the basis of states. And he is going to be representing us on a very crucial, important platform. And when he is discussing, he is discussing on behalf of all of us. Therefore, he deserves nothing except our prayers and our support.

“Let me appeal to all of us. Once you receive a public appointment, there is always a honeymoon period, but soon, that honeymoon will be over. Before long, you will start receiving requests to pay school fees, buy baby supplies, and handle all sorts of personal demands.
Thank God Madam is with you; together, you will learn how to manage these situations. Sometimes, people even measure your performance in office by how many school fees you pay or by whether you help with antenatal bills for those who failed to plan for their families.
Be that as it may, such is the reality of our environment. And I trust that God will grant you the grace to do as much as you can, and to leave the rest to Him.”
