Bayo Onanuga, a spokesperson for the Presidency, has taken a swipe at former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai over his reported expulsion from the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
In a brief post on his X account on Monday, Onanuga wrote: “Internally Displaced Again!” — a clear reference to El-Rufai’s shifting political affiliations.
The comment follows reports by NEW DAILY PRIME that the SDP announced El-Rufai’s expulsion from the party and imposed a 30-year ban on him.
The party’s National Working Committee (NWC) stated that the decision was made in accordance with the SDP’s constitution, ideology, manifesto, principles, and practices.
El-Rufai had joined the SDP after quitting the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Since then, he has reportedly aligned himself with several other political figures, including Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi, and Peter Obi, under the banner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The ongoing political shifts highlight the fluid nature of party affiliations among Nigerian politicians as they reposition ahead of future elections.
