The Lagos State Government has debunked viral reports suggesting a political falling-out between Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Ogun State counterpart, Dapo Abiodun.
In a clarifying statement on Thursday, the Lagos administration described the insinuations as completely false.
The government stated that the bond between the two leaders is the “direct opposite” of the discord being portrayed by some online media platforms and blogs.

The government emphasised that Sanwo-Olu and Abiodun enjoy a cordial, brotherly relationship characterised by frequent communication and regular strategic meetings.
As leaders of two neighbouring states that are geographically and socio-culturally linked, the governors have maintained a unified front to tackle development challenges at their shared boundaries.
“The two brother-governors meet regularly and speak with each other frequently on matters of mutual interest,” the statement read. “They are bound by a common vision to make life more abundant for their respective people.”
The partnership between the two states is solidified by the Lagos-Ogun Joint Development Commission, an institutional framework designed to bridge infrastructure gaps in border towns like Akute, Mowe, and Agbado.
Recent collaborations have focused on joint road construction projects in borderline communities, enhanced intelligence sharing and patrol coordination and streamlined trade and investment flows between Nigeria’s commercial hub and its industrial neighbour.
The state governments warned those attempting to “plant a seed of discord” through misinformation to desist.

The administration noted that such reports are distractions from the ongoing transformative agendas in both states.
By reaffirming their alliance, both Sanwo-Olu and Abiodun have signalled that their joint efforts—geared toward urban renewal and economic growth—remain the priority as the 2026 fiscal year gets underway.
