The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced plans to sanction members who endorsed President Bola Tinubu for re-election in 2027.
In a statement issued on Friday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, said the NWC reviewed the anti-party activities of certain members.
Ologunagba expressed deep concern over the persistent public statements by some prominent members, whose actions and utterances, including open declarations of support and willingness to work for the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 presidential election undermine the party.

He stressed that such conduct violates provisions of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017) and poses a serious threat to the party’s stability and survival.
“Specifically, Section 10 (6) of the PDP Constitution provides that “NO MEMBER of the Party SHALL align with other Parties or groups to undermine the Party or any of its elected government”, he said.
Ologunagba noted that such anti-party activities had continued to harm the PDP, causing division, disaffection, and a significant loss of members.
He said the situation is capable of undermining the party’s electoral prospects if not promptly addressed.
He stressed that, in light of these developments and the urgent need to safeguard the party’s unity and electoral viability, NWC, acting under Section 59(1) of the PDP Constitution, had issued a formal reprimand against such conduct.

He warned those involved to desist and retrace their steps or risk facing more severe sanctions as stipulated in the constitution.
Ologunagba further stated that the NWC had urged all members to remain loyal, focused, and committed to ensuring the successful conduct of the PDP National Convention, scheduled for 15 and 16 November in Ibadan, Oyo State.
