Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has dissolved the State Executive Council, with the directive taking immediate effect.
The Secretary to the State Government, Habibat Adubiaro, in a statement, said commissioners and special advisers affected by the dissolution are to hand over their duties to the most senior civil servant or permanent secretary in their ministries, departments, and agencies.

Adubiaro said that despite the general dissolution, several key officials and departments remain unaffected.
According to Adubiaro, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice retains his position, along with the commissioners for Health and Human Services, Agriculture and Food Security, Education, Works, and Trade, Investment, Industry and Cooperatives.
Additionally, Adubiaro noted that the Special Adviser on Special Education and Social Inclusion and the Special Adviser on Lands, Survey and e-GIS were not impacted by the directive.
All Director Generals who were part of the State Executive Council will also keep their roles, including those from the Office of Transformation and Service Delivery (OTSD), SDGs and Project Monitoring, and the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP).
Adubiaro further stated that Oyebanji expressed his gratitude to the departing cabinet members and wished them well in their future pursuits.
The reason for the cabinet shake-up was not provided.
Oyebanji won the governorship election in the state under the All Progressives Congress (APC) and was sworn in on October 16, 2022.
