The leadership caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has declared its full confidence in Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, vowing to stand by him regardless of any future political decisions, including a possible defection to another party.
This declaration was made in a statement released by Mallam Olawale Rasheed, spokesperson to the Governor, following a high-level PDP caucus meeting held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Osogbo.
According to the statement, the caucus unanimously passed a vote of confidence in Governor Adeleke, commending his leadership style, administrative performance, and political maturity. The group pledged to support the governor “wherever he goes,” amidst growing speculation about his potential move to another political platform.
“Osun PDP leadership caucus today passed a vote of confidence on Governor Ademola Adeleke, unanimously supporting any decision the Governor takes on the growing rumour of defection to another political party,” the statement read.

The meeting, which brought together a broad representation of the party and government structures, featured detailed discussions and contributions from key stakeholders across the state. In attendance were members of the National and State Assemblies, the State Executive Council, Special Advisers’ Forum, the Elders Caucus, ALGON representatives, and the PDP State Executive.
Notable attendees included Deputy Governor Prince Kola Adewusi, Deputy Senate Minority Leader Senator Lere Oyewumi, House Speaker Rt Hon Adewale Egbedun, former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Senator Oluwole Alabi, PDP South West Vice Chairman Engr Kamorudeen Ajisafe, and several current and former lawmakers and government officials.
The caucus meeting ended with the issuance of a communique, reinforcing the party’s loyalty to Governor Adeleke while acknowledging that he is still in the process of consulting widely before making any formal decision regarding his political future.
“The meeting recognised that the Governor is still consulting on the next lines of action,” the communique stated.
With the PDP’s top figures in Osun State standing firmly behind him, any decision Governor Adeleke takes in the coming weeks is expected to significantly impact the political landscape of both the state and the wider South West region.
