The Deputy Governor of Osun State, Prince Kola Adewusi, has called on members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ife Federal Constituency to remain calm and allow the party’s leadership to resolve the internal crisis that has recently emerged within the zone.
Adewusi, reacting to reports of a vote of no confidence passed against him and two other party chieftains over alleged anti-party activities, described the situation as a “storm in a teacup.” He made the remarks in a statement released on Wednesday through his Chief Press Secretary, Goke Awoyemi.
Earlier reports indicated that tensions flared during a meeting in Ife East Local Government, leading to the controversial resolution against Adewusi and Professor Wale Oladipo, a member of the PDP Board of Trustees.
In his response, the Deputy Governor downplayed the incident, stating that internal disagreements are part of the broader democratic and political process, and should not be allowed to derail the party’s focus or unity.
“Inasmuch as internal wranglings are embedded in party politicking, this should strengthen the system and our collective reasoning,” the statement read. “It should not weaken our efforts in serving our communities and the people of Osun State.”
The Deputy Governor also made an emotional appeal to aggrieved members, urging them to put aside their grievances and allow the party’s leadership to mediate.
“This is not the season to celebrate or promote a crisis,” he said. “It is a time to work together towards ensuring victory for our hardworking and high-performing Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, come August 2026.”
Echoing similar sentiments, Osun PDP Chairman, Sunday Bisi, earlier appealed for restraint and called on party members to refrain from actions that could escalate the situation further.
Adewusi also appealed to the media and the public to view the conflict as an internal party matter that would be resolved amicably.
“To the public media space that has been awash with this unpleasant report, we also want them to see the same as a minor family affair that will be resolved in a family way,” he said. “When we quarrel with our wives before leaving home in the morning, we come to an amicable settlement in the other room when we return at night.”
The PDP leadership in Osun is expected to intervene in the coming days to de-escalate the crisis and restore unity ahead of the party’s preparations for the 2026 gubernatorial election.
