The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) alleged that Governor Ademola Adeleke and leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are deliberately misinterpreting a recent Supreme Court judgement to provoke unrest and violence across the state.
The APC in the state urged the Inspector-General of Police and the National Security Adviser (NSA) to intervene.
In a press statement issued on Saturday, the APC chairman in the state, Tajudeen Lawal, claimed that the state government and PDP are “twisting” the apex court’s decision on local government allocations, which was struck out on Friday.

The ruling, in the case of Attorney-General of Osun State v. Attorney-General of the Federation (SC/CV/379/2025), declared the suit incompetent due to lack of locus standi and jurisdiction.
According to the APC, the Supreme Court affirmed that local government statutory allocations must be paid directly to councils, emphasising the autonomy of federal, state, and local tiers.
It ruled that the Osun Attorney-General had no right to sue, as local governments are independent entities capable of pursuing their own claims in the Federal High Court, not the Supreme Court.

The lead judgement, delivered by Justice Muhammed Idris and supported by six other justices, struck out the case, with Justice Emmanuel Agim dissenting.
Lawal accused Governor Adeleke, PDP state chairman Sunday Bisi, and Information Commissioner Kolapo Alimi of misleading the public through statements and media appearances.
He cited an incident in Otan-Aiyegbaju, Boluwaduro Local Government Area, where five APC members were allegedly attacked and wounded by PDP thugs led by Felix Falola, alias ‘Agba’, shortly after the verdict. The APC described this as a “test” for coordinated assaults on its members.
“The claim of ‘victory’ by Governor Adeleke and his cohorts is not only ridiculous, it is a contempt of court,” the statement read, questioning how a struck-out case could be portrayed as a win.
It further alleged that the PDP’s tactics aim to sustain false hope among supporters and prevent internal implosion.
The APC cautioned Adeleke, as the state’s chief security officer, against actions that could disturb public peace and urged its members to adhere to the rule of law while pursuing sanity in local government administration
