“We all saw the news yesterday, saying rallies and gatherings are prohibited, roads will be blocked, and convoys won’t be allowed into the state. Clearly, the aim was to stop this event. But I asked myself, is this a political season? Is this a campaign? No!

“This is not a rally. I am simply the Senator representing Kogi Central, visiting my people to celebrate Sallah. There is absolutely nothing unlawful about that. As Nigerians, we have the right to move freely, to gather, and to celebrate.
“Nobody can stop me from coming home. I am an Ebira woman. This is my land, the land of my ancestors. I am the daughter of the late Jimoh Abdul Akpoti, and I know where I come from. I am not afraid of anyone,” she declared defiantly.
Ahead of the event, the she had accused Governor Usman Ododo, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and former Governor Yahaya Bello of attempting to disrupt her homecoming, warning that any security breaches should be blamed on them.
