Kenneth Okonkwo, a former spokesperson for the Labour Party’s Presidential Campaign Council, has expressed confidence that the emerging opposition coalition led by prominent political figures will pose a serious challenge to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Okonkwo said the coalition, which includes former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and other political veterans, has the potential to shake the foundation of the APC’s dominance.
“Just know that I am part of the coalition. I can tell you about the engine room of this coalition that many people don’t know about. APC will not know what hit them come 2027,” Okonkwo stated.

The group is reportedly in the process of forming a new political party the All Democratic Alliance (ADA) to serve as the main opposition platform in the next general election.
Despite this growing momentum, APC leaders remain publicly unfazed. Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani recently dismissed the coalition as posing no significant threat to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s expected re-election bid in 2027.
Still, with high-profile figures aligning against the ruling party and widespread public interest growing around the new alliance, the stage appears set for a fiercely contested election cycle.
