Deputy Governor of Kano State, Comrade Aminu Gwarzo, has welcomed a group of All Progressives Congress (APC) defectors to the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), hailing the move as a vital reinforcement to the party’s unity and expanding influence across the state.
The defectors, numbering several members from 10 wards in Gwarzo Local Government Area and neighbouring councils, formally announced their decision yesterday at the Deputy Governor’s office.
Led by Malam Bala Ladani Gwarzo, the group cited the impressive achievements of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s administration as the key motivation for their switch.
NNPP loyalists speak
In a statement by the Deputy Governor’s spokesperson, Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, Malam Bala Ladani expressed admiration for Governor Yusuf’s commitment to people-oriented leadership.
He pledged unwavering loyalty to the NNPP and vowed that the new members would actively contribute to the party’s triumphs at all levels.
Addressing the arrivals, Gwarzo urged them to stay resolute in upholding the party’s principles, emphasising that their inclusion would bolster the party’s grassroots foundation.
He framed the defection as more than a mere political shift, but a shared endeavour to foster meaningful progress for Kano’s residents.
Alhaji Abdulkadir Getso, the NNPP leader in Gwarzo Local Government, echoed the optimism, revealing that additional defectors are anticipated imminently.
He disclosed that prominent individuals are currently negotiating with party stakeholders to join the NNPP, signalling a surge in membership.
Dr. Mani Tsoho, Chairman of Gwarzo Local Government, assured the newcomers of seamless integration and equal treatment within the party.
He praised the dedication of NNPP stakeholders in recruiting fresh talent and voiced a strong belief in the party’s ongoing electoral successes.
