The Kaduna State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has urged the public and party members to be wary of individuals falsely presenting themselves as the party’s legitimate leaders.
In a statement released in Kaduna on Saturday, the chapter denounced what it termed an “illegal and misleading” inauguration of state executives, insisting that no such event had been authorised by the recognised leadership.

The party specifically highlighted the role of Tijani Ahmed, a former vice chairman (also referred to as deputy chairman in prior reports), who allegedly led the purported inauguration alongside others.
It stated that Ahmed had been expelled from the ADC due to allegations of extortion, anti-party activities, and other infractions.
State Publicity Secretary Alex Tagwai dismissed claims that a court had empowered Ahmed to act as chairman, labelling such assertions “a complete lie” and “mischievous speculation.”
Tagwai further challenged Ahmed’s legitimacy, noting that he is neither recognised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nor the party’s national secretariat.
“If so, Tijjani Ahmed should present the legal document that gives him the power to assume the position of chairman of the party in the state,” he added.
This development appears to stem from an ongoing internal dispute within the Kaduna ADC.

In October 2025, the chapter, then led by Chairman Elder Patrick Ambut, expelled Ahmed Mustapha and eight others for alleged gross misconduct, insubordination, and attempts to usurp power.
Conversely, some reports from that period portrayed Ahmed as acting chairman disowning a rival faction.
